Johnny Hunt’s Nomination: Troubles for the SBCPTB?

Dr. Johnny Hunt has announced his willingness to be nominated president of the SBC when it convenes in Indianapolis this June. Now, Hunt is being nominated in a field crowded with candidates . . . and even one from his own state convention (now, this really makes you go: “HMMM?”)!
Notice this interesting statement from 2006:
Way back in 2006 (before Hunt withdrew), it seems that Cox, out of courtesy for a fellow-Georgian, did not throw his hat into the ring.
NOW, in 2008, the shoe is on the other foot, but Hunt does the unthinkable, and throws his hat into the ring, alongside Cox’s [hat]!
Let us explain:
Hunt’s church is only a “stone’s throw” from Cox’s church (49.8 miles). What the problem is between these two Georgians, only Peter Lumpkins (also a fellow-Georgian) knows (Peter is the psychic blogger of the SBC)!

Regardless of the reason, here is the message Hunt is sending Cox:
A 49.8 mile drive-by slap-by . . . so much for Southern Hospitality! 
Moreover, as we see it, Frank Cox is a cog in the SBCPTB (Southern Baptist Convention’s Powers That Be) (aka: Denominational Machine); Johnny Hunt is ALSO a cog in the Denominational Machine!
Seemingly, with these two cogs out of sync, the Denominational Machine is on the verge of collapsing!
Conclusively, with Hunt and Cox [* and Willis?] splitting the SBCPTB’s vote two [*possibly three] ways, one of the NON-Baptist Identity Club “Dissenting” candidates (Wagner, Drake, Dark Horse #1, or Dark Horse #2) WILL will the election!!! 
[*Edtior's Note: Avery Willis could possibly pull some votes from the Denominational Machine, also.]

Our plan is working. We got the spot off Burleson and onto me. I’m glad. Burleson wants to change the SBC into the EBC. No, not Enid Baptist Convention, silly–Ecumenical Baptist Convention. Mine is better–the NBC.

Not to start a fight here but please “baptistman”, with so many running can you really say that there is an establishment other than maybe ENIDCONNECT?
Not so much. One would think that the openness to have many candidates would be good. BUT I fear it’s damned either way… if the candidate field were small=the ‘establishment’ has made the ’smoke-filled room’ decision for the convention again…with many candidates=the ‘establishment’ is falling! Apparently the establishment is definitionally evil…and, by association, anyone who affirms our convention’s leadership.

For you to bring Calvinism up concerning Chadwick’s post on Johnny Hunt(Johnny be good’s)nominationis an exercise in rediculous absurdity.
I know Chadwick personally and yet at times we disagree.He thinks that John Calvin was wrong in having some arminians killed.I disagree.
Cowboy tells no one to be damned.He won’t even say the word..damned outloud.He spells it.out .D-a-m-n-or he says it under his breath where He and God are the only ones who hear it.
In his latest blog,Cowboy does not mention Calvinism or Armianism.
However,The video of one man slapping another originally represented a Calvinist slapping the face of an Arminian.

I agree with the top of your post. Dr. Cox showed a great amount of integrity and respect by not throwing his hat in 2 years ago out of courtesy for another GA pastor who stood on the same side of the fence as Dr. Cox on most major issues, and now Dr. Hunt has done as the first video demonstrates to his “friend” (i’m not sure how close they really are, but I would imagine they have a friendly relationship based on the proximity of their churches) by throwing his HUGE hat in this late.
Why did Dr. Hunt do that? Because up to this point, yesterday to be exact, the ESTABLISHMENT and the MEGA-BOYS DID NOT HAVE A CANDIDATE. Dr. Hunt is that candidate! Dr. Cox never was. The pastors whose churches are too small for the other candidate to preach at were the ones pushing Dr. Cox to allow his name to be put up for the nomination.

On “Day one”Johnny be good will be prepared to lead our convention.
He will promise to withdraw all Calvinist Pastors from the SBC in his first 60 days as President.

Johnny will pledge that no Calvinist will be nominated for anything,anytime,anywhere.

For what it’s worth: J. Hunt preached at my former church twice. The first time we had less than 100 attending. The second time we had less than 200. I don’t think given our size or our distance from Woodstock (more than 500 miles away) he came for the love offering either. Thank the Lord for Frank Cox - and Johnny Hunt. May their tribe increase!

All this is because the SBC promised Indianapolis a large crowd and since nothing was going on to draw one, they had to do this. It’s propaganda I tell you. Unadulterated. Unfortunately some really good guys are going to get drug through the mud and talked bad about behind closed doors for what? Power. I am sorry, but I can’t go for it. Not anymore.

As Barry has indicated,Johnny Hunt is not a part of the”numbers”game.He actually drove 500 miles to preach in a small church and it was not for the love offering.What other pastor would dare to drive that far for a revival.
Please keep in mind that Brother Johnny preaches 3 or 4 times at his church every sunday.The only word that comes close to describing Johnny is…Ubiquitous(everywhere at the same time).If only our convention had 100 Johnny Hunts and 50 of Johnny’s preacher boys strategically located across our convention,Revival would flourish in our nation.Probably one reason JH would like to be President of the SBC is…it would give him the opportunity to travel 500 miles or more at convention expense to preach in our small and super small churches.
There is a rumor that JH is going to preach a reivival on the T-U-L-I-P at Sandhill Baptist church(Chadwick Ivester,pastor).But he will have to drive 299 miles to get there.About 125 members will hear JH,but he will receive $600 plus mileage.
Now who wouldn’t vote for a man like that.I can say with a humble heart:
Johnny must increse but i must decrease,
He must wax but i must wane….vote for JH in june and invite him to prech in your micro church.He’ll be there!

You just don’t get it.Johnny be Good’s church gave $500,000 to 3 new church starts in Las vegas.That is one million five hundred thousand dollars.According to Johnny be Good the NAMB is starving missionaries who seek to start new churches.Face the facts,Hans,Johnny be Good’s church is a denomination in itself.Sure,they give 2%$400.000 to the CP.But keep in mind that Johnny be Good is filled with wisdom and he is convinced that the CP that has served us well for many years is out-dated and obsolete.It’s not about per-centage anymore..it’s about dollars.Johnny be Good has the support of men like Paige Patterson and Danny Aiken.They can’t be wrong.It’s all about dollars and Johnny be Good.In the 80s JBG was the pastor of Falls of the Nuese Baptist church located between Wake Forest and Raleigh.The church grew numerically in a short period of time.When JBG left so did the numbers.The pastor search committee came to hear me preach.We met after the service.For about an hour all I heard was Johnny..Johnny…Johnny.I finally said,”My name is Bill.”You are looking for Johnny.At that time we went our seperate ways.I’m glad we did.As far as I know Falls of the Nuese never got over JBG.For those who will take me to task on these facts,”Go ahead,make my day.”

hottub has been taking “shock therapy” to relieve himself of nightmares of being called, “Johnny!” hottub’s wife has told me that he wakes up in the middle of the night crying out, “I ain’t Johnny! I ain’t Johnny!” The only way hottub’s wife can calm him down is by giving him a glass of “non-alcoholic “wine (but she tell him it is real), reading some lines from Calvin’s Institutes to him, and making him quote Romans 9:13 out loud for 5 times. Only then will hottub doze back off to sleep!
